West Ham sources deny any direct Fernandes approach

West Ham sources say Manchester United have made no direct contact with the club over Mateus Fernandes and that no other club has approached them either, according to The Sun as relayed by Football365.

That does not rule out the separate reports that Manchester United have spoken to Fernandes’ representatives. Agent discussions and club-to-club contact are different steps. The denial also conflicts with an earlier report that Arsenal contacted West Ham.

The claim qualifies the talk of an £80m stand-off without disproving interest in Fernandes. No formal bid or agreement is reported.
