Real Madrid reportedly drop Fernandes pursuit

Real Madrid have reportedly ended their pursuit of Mateus Fernandes. The Sun, relayed by West Ham Blog, says Madrid decided not to add another midfielder and expected Fernandes to move to Manchester United.

Marca now says West Ham's reported valuation and Tottenham's advanced talks would complicate any possible Madrid move. West Ham Zone relays that account, but it does not report that Madrid have returned to the race or made a fresh approach.

The Madrid withdrawal remains the reported event. The new account explains the obstacles to a hypothetical move rather than describing renewed contact, a bid or an agreement.
