Bowen says West Ham have shed their early tension

Jarrod Bowen believes West Ham are playing with confidence again after the tension of a winless opening three Championship games. The 6-0 victory over Wrexham made it four league wins in a row and put them top overnight.

Speaking after the match in comments carried by Knees up Mother Brown, the captain said expectation following relegation had left the squad too tense. Chances were being created, but the finishing and confidence had only recently clicked.

Bowen also described his message during the transfer window: players had to keep doing their jobs for West Ham, whatever they or their agents wanted to happen. He said the squad had stuck together through the uncertainty.

The relief came with a warning. Bowen said the pressure remained and the Championship was still a demanding league. Seven matches were gone, with 39 still to play.
