Bowen and Piroe put West Ham 2-0 up at the break

West Ham were firmly in control at half-time against Wrexham, leading 2-0 through goals from Jarrod Bowen and Joël Piroe.

The one proper alarm came 10 minutes before the break, when Konstantinos Mavropanos blocked George Dobson's effort on the line. Otherwise Wrexham had offered little.

Mads Hermansen's decision to punch a long throw while under no pressure still drew a sharp reaction from Don Goodman on Sky Sports Football. The pundit called it “astonishing”, though West Ham cleared the next attack and escaped without damage.

The scoreboard was comfortable. The goalkeeper's choice was rather less so.
