Nuno says West Ham cannot afford another half like Millwall

Nuno Espírito Santo said West Ham cannot afford to spend half a match failing to do the basics after their recovery from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Millwall.

The head coach said his side failed to handle Millwall's physicality, lacked precision and conceded both first-half goals from long throws. Pablo Felipe and Mohamadou Kanté came on at the break as West Ham changed shape, and Nuno credited the players and travelling support for the response.

Kanté scored from distance before Dinos Mavropanos headed the equaliser. Nuno called Kanté's late dismissal a mistake, while adding that the young midfielder had made the decision for the team.

The draw extended West Ham's unbeaten league run to six matches. Nuno welcomed that progress but said the learning must be quick, with the international break offering time to rest and work on the flaws exposed at The Den.
