Neil says Millwall ran out of steam against West Ham
Alex Neil said Millwall's stretched squad ran out of legs as West Ham recovered from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at The Den.
The Millwall manager told Southwark News that Lyndon Dykes was exhausted but remained on because of his value defending set pieces and giving the side a target up front. With Millwall short of their usual attacking replacements, Neil said sustaining that approach became increasingly difficult.
Neil also said West Ham's half-time changes made the second half harder, describing the visitors as dynamic and containing top players. Millwall's fatigue was his explanation for why the lead slipped, while West Ham still had to punish it.
