Win would end West Ham's Southampton league wait since 1952
West Ham can end a league wait against Southampton dating back to 1952 on Saturday, though the qualifier matters. West Ham Zone says the Hammers have not beaten Saints in a league match outside the top flight since 20 December that year. Southampton won one and drew the other of their two Championship meetings in 2011–12.
Opta's supercomputer projections, reported by West Ham Zone, give West Ham a 49.8% chance of winning, Southampton 24.8% and the draw 25.3%. The numbers favour a home win. They do not deliver one.
