Nuno wants lasting improvement after West Ham's September run

West Ham's September surge has earned Nuno Espírito Santo some breathing room, but he wants the performances to last. Speaking to Sky Sports before Friday's home game against QPR, he said his reshaped squad still has plenty to improve. A win would put West Ham top of the Championship ahead of the weekend's fixtures.

West Ham followed a winless August with a 4-2 victory over Wolves, then three more wins and a draw before the international break. Their last match was a 2-2 draw at Millwall after trailing by two. Nuno welcomed the second-half response but said they should have played better.

Nuno said the full squad had spent only one day together since the internationals returned, though the players had reintegrated well. Sky Sports reports that six of West Ham's 22 goals have come from set pieces and Konstantinos Mavropanos has scored four in his last four matches. Nuno praised that threat while saying the side still needs to balance attacking and defending set pieces.
