West Ham were only reported to be considering him, and the Hull move is not yet complete.

West Ham linked with free-agent Targett

West Ham have been linked with Matt Targett, but the report stops at interest.

Claret & Hugh says the club are considering the 30-year-old left-back, while relaying a Football League World report that Norwich City are also interested. Targett is reportedly available after his Newcastle United contract expired, having spent the previous season on loan at Middlesbrough.

The available account does not describe contact, talks, a bid or an agreement. That leaves this at a familiar early stage: an available player, reported interest and no described approach.
