Bowen says West Ham must raise their level after Blackburn defeat

Jarrod Bowen said West Ham's 2–1 defeat at Blackburn was ‘nowhere near good enough’ and called on the squad to give supporters more than another attempt to rescue a match from two goals down.

Blackburn scored twice in the second half through Andri Guðjohnsen and Dapo Afolayan before Joël Piroe pulled one back late on. Bowen said West Ham had fallen short of the level he expects over their last four games. He pointed to the travelling support at Blackburn and at Cardiff earlier in the week, saying the players needed to give them more.

Bowen said the international break would give new head coach Scott Parker time on the training ground to put across his ideas and build the team's culture before the next match against Preston. That is his plan for the fortnight. The improvement still has to come on the pitch.
