Fabiański and a 1982 win link West Ham with Swansea
There is a bit of West Ham history in Saturday's trip to Swansea. In his fixture preview for West Ham Till I Die, Dan Coker recalls François van der Elst scoring the winner in a 1–0 Hammers victory at the Vetch Field in March 1982.
Coker also traces Łukasz Fabiański's route from Swansea to West Ham. The goalkeeper joined Swansea in 2014 and moved to the Hammers in 2018, later winning Hammer of the Year in his first season in east London. West Ham Till I Die reports that he was released by the club again in summer 2026. It is useful background for this fixture, rather than fresh team news.
