Álvarez named in report on alleged COVID-19 document operation
Estadio Deportes' allegation goes beyond naming Edson Álvarez in documents. It accuses the West Ham midfielder, his former father-in-law and a doctor of leading an alleged network selling false COVID-19 vaccination certificates, according to West Ham Zone's account of the Mexican report.
Sport Witness had earlier relayed Estadio Deportes' account that Álvarez was named in documents concerning the alleged operation. That reporting does not establish that he bought or used a false certificate, or took part in selling one. West Ham Zone says the report did not indicate that an official investigation had opened, and that Álvarez had not commented on this certificate allegation when its article was published.
